Wow. There’s not much else we can say. Ford and Shelby Performance unveiled their unique take on the Mustang Mach-E GT, showcasing it at this year’s (2023) SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. Before we dive into the details (there’s a lot), let’s first address the elephant in the room. The guys in charge of the Mach-E build were pretty happy with the car, but were in need of wheels that would really take this thing to the next level. Long story short, the guys over at Shelby American came across our wheels and reached out. It was an offer we couldn’t refuse. They were looking for something lightweight that would compliment the ideas behind the build, and we had exactly what they were looking for. They fell in love with the style of the C50, and it just so happens that we also offer them in a Flow Forged variant. The sizing and finish options were confirmed and we packed them up and shipped them out immediately. Literally.
Where do we even start…this thing is loaded with performance goodies. This entire project was built on the readily available Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance platform. Yes, power output is identical in this Shelby concept and the consumer version. However, Shelby is planning on tuning the platform to put out more power. That said, the GT and the concept still boast impressive numbers: 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque, clocking a 3.5 second 0-60 time. For an EV, that’s pretty impressive.
Now, as far as the chassis is concerned, Shelby stuck with the eAWD drivetrain and GT Performance’s extended range battery. The suspension, however, is tuned. The concept is running Shelby by Extremis composite carbon fiber springs and a Shelby tuned Ford MagneRide damping system.
Let’s talk about the obvious modifications…what a beauty. This Mach-E’s interior boasts custom Shelby-themed RECARO bucket seats, Shelby badging and a Shelby CSM identification number. The exterior is where the build really comes to life. A super aggressive aesthetic fitted with Shelby by Extremis graphene infused carbon fiber front fascia, front splitter, front and rear fender flares and hood, with a massive scoop that provides more than sufficient cooling. Paired up with the classic Shelby badging and livery, it really comes to life.
The wheels? Well, we’re proud to say that we were able to work with Shelby and get our wheels on this insane project. The Mach-E concept is running a very aggressive 20×9 fitment in our gloss black CFF50. Wrap that up with the best tire on the planet; Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 265/40/20.
People have a love and hate relationship with the Mach-E. Let’s put it this way; Carroll Shelby was criticized and under pressure for taking on the job of turning the Mustang into a true sports car back in 1965. Although Shelby left us in 2012, his legacy lives on, and if we’ve learned anything from him, it’s that Shelby never gives up.
